Underground Storage Tank Closure

Leaaf Environmental, LLC (Leaaf) conducted an investigation of suspected Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) located at a historic filling station.  Leaaf was subcontracted to identify and remove six USTs from the site.  The initial investigation included probing to determine the location and volume of the USTs and sampling to determine the contents.

Once the tanks were located and characterized, Leaaf purged the liquid contents of the USTs with a vacuum truck, excavated the soil and concrete surrounding the tanks, and removed the USTs.  In addition, indoor air quality samples for volatile organics were collected and analyzed to evaluate enclosed space air quality.

Following removal of all USTs, Leaaf submitted the appropriate UST Closure documentation to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and received a “no further action” determination.
