LDEQ- Broussard Chemical Company Main Warehouse
Date: 2017 - present
Location: Abbeville, LA
Leaaf Environmental, LLC (Leaaf) was contracted by the LDEQ to perform various work orders at Broussard Chemical Company – Main Warehouse, a site formerly used by Broussard Chemical Company (BCC).
Work Plan – A detailed work plan, quality assurance/quality control plan, and technical sampling and analysis plan was created by Leaaf in accordance with LDEQ’s Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP) guidance to detail the work to be performed at the site during the site investigations.
Access Agreements – Leaaf coordinated with landowners to obtain site access agreements to allow access to the property to conduct environmental investigations.
Site investigations - Multiple RECAP site investigations were performed by Leaaf in an attempt to investigate and delineate constituents of concern (COCs). During these investigations, 16 boreholes were advanced up to 40 feet below ground surface and soil was sampled. Three monitor wells and nine temporary wells were installed to sample groundwater. Nearshore sediments were sampled. COCs included volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, PCBs, metals, hydrocarbon fractions, and glycols. Additionally, 18 borings were advanced to three feet to delineate ash observed near the surface.
Site investigations Reports – For each site investigation a RECAP Site Investigation report was produced detailing the work performed, and results of the sampling.
